Description

A quick and flavorful shrimp rice bowl with a spicy honey garlic glaze, perfect for a weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (or more, to taste)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Optional toppings: sesame seeds, chopped green onions, sliced jalapeños

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, and sriracha. Set aside.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes per side, until pink and cooked through. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.
  5. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour the honey-garlic mixture into the skillet. Bring to a simmer.
  7. Whisk in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
  8. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
  9. Serve the spicy honey garlic shrimp over cooked rice.
  10. Garnish with optional toppings if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust sriracha amount for desired spice level.
  • For a thicker sauce, use slightly less water with the cornstarch.
  • This dish is best served immediately.
