Description

A quick and easy one-pot Thai basil chicken dish, perfect for a weeknight meal. This spicy and flavorful recipe features ground chicken stir-fried with holy basil and served over rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-2 Thai chilies, thinly sliced (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh holy basil leaves (or Thai basil if holy basil is unavailable)
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and sliced Thai chilies to the skillet. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the skillet. Stir well to combine and coat the chicken.
  6. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  7. Stir in the holy basil leaves until they just begin to wilt.
  8. Serve immediately over cooked rice.

Notes

  • For a milder dish, reduce or omit the Thai chilies.
  • If you cannot find holy basil, regular Thai basil can be used, though the flavor will be slightly different.
  • Ensure all your ingredients are prepped before you start cooking, as this dish comes together quickly.
