Ingredients

  • 1 pound spicy Italian sausage, removed from casings
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 pound pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Brown sausage in a large pot over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease.
  2. Add onion and garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in red pepper flakes.
  3. Pour in crushed tomatoes and chicken broth. Bring to a boil.
  4. Add pasta to the pot. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until pasta is cooked through and sauce has thickened, about 15-20 minutes.
