Description

This One-Pan Sausage & Orzo Skillet is a quick, easy, and delicious meal. Enjoy a flavorful dinner with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage, removed from casings
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1.5 cups orzo pasta
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large oven-safe skillet, brown the sausage over medium-high heat. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Add onion, garlic, and bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in orzo pasta, chicken broth, diced tomatoes, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring to a simmer.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Transfer skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until orzo is cooked and liquid is absorbed.
  7. Remove from oven and stir in Parmesan cheese and spinach. Let stand for a few minutes until spinach wilts.
  8. Serve immediately.
