Description
Italian Sausage Rigatoni is a quick and easy pasta dish. It is perfect for a weeknight meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound rigatoni pasta
- 1 pound Italian sausage, removed from casing
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cook rigatoni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown Italian sausage over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add cooked rigatoni to the skillet and toss to coat.
- Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- You can add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicier dish.
