Description
These Iowa Party Bites are a crowd-pleasing appetizer perfect for any gathering. They are easy to make and always a hit with guests, especially picky eaters. Serve them warm for a delightful treat.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (8 ounce) package crescent roll dough
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion and bell peppers to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
- Spoon about 1-2 tablespoons of the beef mixture onto the wider end of each crescent roll triangle.
- Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
- Roll up the crescent rolls from the wide end to the point.
- Place the rolled bites seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg wash.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the meat mixture for a little heat.
- These can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven.
- For an easy breakfast treat, omit the cheese and add a pinch of cinnamon to the meat mixture.
