Description
A simple and delicious seafood casserole featuring a creamy sauce and a blend of seafood, baked to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 pound mixed seafood (shrimp, scallops, crab meat)
- 1 cup cooked pasta or rice
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup shredded cheese (optional)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook pasta or rice according to package directions if not already cooked.
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and celery and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
- Stir in salt, pepper, and mixed seafood. Cook until seafood is heated through and opaque, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in cooked pasta or rice.
- Pour mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- If using, sprinkle with cheese and breadcrumbs.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and lightly browned.
Notes
- You can use any combination of seafood you like.
- For a richer flavor, use seafood stock instead of milk.
- Add your favorite vegetables like peas or corn.
- Top with fresh parsley before serving.
