This easy beef and broccoli recipe delivers tender beef and crisp broccoli in a savory sauce, surpassing your favorite takeout.
Ingredients
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce and cornstarch. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove beef from the wok and set aside.
- Add sesame oil to the wok. Add garlic and ginger and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add broccoli florets and beef broth. Cover and steam for 3-5 minutes, until broccoli is tender-crisp.
- In a small bowl, whisk together oyster sauce and sugar.
- Return beef to the wok. Pour the oyster sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli. Stir to coat.
- Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
- Serve immediately over cooked rice.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic.
- You can substitute other cuts of beef like sirloin or skirt steak.
