Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix melted butter and 1 cup sugar until combined.
  3. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Add cinnamon and salt. Mix well.
  5. Gradually add flour, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon for the topping.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
