Description
Festive deviled eggs shaped like Christmas trees, perfect for holiday gatherings. They are easy to make and add a fun, edible decoration to your table.
Ingredients
- 12 large eggs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- Red food coloring (optional, for “ornaments”)
- Chives or parsley (for “star” and “garland”)
Instructions
- Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 10-12 minutes.
- Drain eggs and immediately place them in an ice bath to stop the cooking.
- Once cool, peel the eggs. Slice each egg in half lengthwise.
- Remove the yolks and place them in a medium bowl. Arrange the egg white halves on a serving platter.
- Mash the egg yolks with a fork until fine.
- Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper to the yolks. Mix until smooth.
- Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg white halves.
- To create the tree shape, stack 3 deviled egg halves in a pyramid for a small tree, or 4-5 for a larger tree. You can gently trim the sides of the egg white halves to help them stack.
- For “ornaments,” dip a toothpick in red food coloring and dot it onto the yolk mixture.
- For a “star,” cut a small star shape from yellow bell pepper or use a tiny piece of chive. Place it on top of the tree.
- For a “garland,” finely chop chives or parsley and sprinkle it over the deviled eggs.
Notes
- You can add a pinch of paprika for color to the yolk mixture.
- If you don’t have chives, dill can be used for the garland.
- Chill the deviled eggs for at least 30 minutes before serving.
