Description
A flavorful and aromatic Chicken Masala Curry that’s easy to make at home. Enjoy tender chicken pieces simmered in a rich and creamy tomato-based sauce.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet or pot over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger, cook for 1 minute more.
- Stir in turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and garam masala. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Add chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides.
- Pour in diced tomatoes and bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through.
- Stir in heavy cream and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of chili powder to your preference.
- For a richer flavor, marinate the chicken in yogurt and spices for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
- You can use coconut milk instead of heavy cream for a dairy-free option.
