Description

A comforting and satisfying Cheesy Beef & Potato Bake perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in oregano, salt, pepper, crushed tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes.
  5. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the potato slices.
  6. Pour half of the beef mixture over the potatoes.
  7. Repeat layers with remaining potatoes and beef mixture.
  8. Top with cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
  9. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

  • Add other vegetables such as bell peppers or mushrooms to the beef mixture.
