Description

Enjoy a quick and easy Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry. This recipe delivers a flavorful dish better than takeout.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 pound broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Cooked rice, for serving


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and cornstarch.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
  3. Add beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. Add garlic and ginger to the skillet and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
  5. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3 minutes.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together beef broth, brown sugar, oyster sauce (if using), sesame oil, and remaining soy sauce.
  7. Pour sauce over broccoli and cook until broccoli is tender-crisp.
  8. Return beef to the skillet and stir to combine.
  9. Serve immediately over cooked rice.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, add a cornstarch slurry (1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water) to the skillet during the last minute of cooking.
  • Adjust the amount of brown sugar to your taste.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
