Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound protein of choice (chicken, tofu, or plant-based)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup uncooked rice or grain of choice
- 2 cups broth (vegetable or chicken)
- 1 teaspoon seasoning blend (your favorite mix)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté the Base: In a large skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add protein and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Cook Aromatics: In the same pan, sauté onion and bell pepper until soft, about 4 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Toast the Rice: Add rice to the skillet and stir for 1-2 minutes to toast lightly and absorb the flavor.
- Combine and Simmer: Return protein to the pan. Add broth, seasonings, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine, bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 20 minutes.

Notes
