Ingredients
- 8 slices of bread (sourdough, white, or Texas toast)
- 4 tablespoons softened butter
- 8 slices of cheese (American, cheddar, Gruyère, or a mix)
- Optional: tomato slices, bacon, avocado, caramelized onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the Bread: Butter one side of each slice of bread. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet, buttered side facing out.
- Assemble the Sandwiches: Place a slice of cheese between two slices of bread. Repeat with the remaining bread and cheese.
- Bake: Place the sandwiches on the baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve: Remove from the oven, slice, and serve with your favorite dipping sauce, like tomato soup or a side salad.
Notes
For extra flavor, try adding toppings like crispy bacon, fresh avocado, or a few slices of tomato inside your sandwich before baking. To ensure an even crispy finish, flip the sandwiches halfway through the baking time.
