Description

This Select Instant Pot Quinoa recipe is a quick, nutritious, and versatile dish that comes together in minutes. With just a few ingredients and a 1-minute pressure cook, you get fluffy, protein-rich quinoa every time. Ideal for busy weeknights, meal prep, or plant-based meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup quinoa, rinsed
  • 1½ cups water or low-sodium vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (optional)
  • Optional add-ins: garlic powder, bay leaf, lemon juice, or fresh herbs

Instructions

  1. Rinse the Quinoa: Place the quinoa in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold running water for 30–60 seconds to remove bitterness.
  2. Load the Instant Pot: Add rinsed quinoa, water or broth, olive oil, and salt to the Instant Pot. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Pressure Cook: Seal the lid and cook on High Pressure for 1 minute. Allow a natural pressure release for 10–15 minutes.
  4. Fluff and Serve: Once the pressure is released, open the lid and fluff the quinoa with a fork. Serve warm or allow to cool for storage.
  5. Store for Later: Store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months in airtight containers.

Notes

For added flavor, use broth instead of water or stir in lemon juice, garlic, or herbs after cooking. Double the recipe easily using the same 1:1.5 quinoa-to-liquid ratio and cooking method.
