Ingredients
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup warm water (105-115°F)
- 1 cup warm milk (105-115°F)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, and salt.
- Add the foamy yeast mixture to the milk mixture.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 15 minutes.
- Punch down dough and divide into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball.
- Place rolls on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 10 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush tops of rolls with beaten egg.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve warm.

- Ensure water and milk are warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
- Adjust flour as needed for dough consistency.
- For softer rolls, brush with melted butter after baking.
