Ingredients

  • 1 pound rigatoni pasta
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, removed from casing
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Cook rigatoni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Deglaze the pan with white wine, scraping up any browned bits.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer.
  6. Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Add cooked rigatoni to the sauce and toss to coat.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil and serve immediately.

  • For a spicier dish, use hot Italian sausage.
